It was published on June 13, 1990 by 中华人民共和国国家技术监督局 zhōnghuárénmíngònghéguó guójiā jìshù jiāndūjú. It became effective on December 1, 1990. The T means Extension (推荐 tuījiàn).
It is almost identical to GB 2312-80 but most characters (2 180) are replaced by their traditional variant. It contains two print-errors.
